Meeting Topics: During the public meeting, the Workforce, Behavior, and Culture Subcommittee will present on workforce issues, to include recommendations for a Chief Digital Engineering and Recruiting Management Officer. The Science and Technology Subcommittee will present on a Biotechnology and Data Strategy for the Joint Pathology Center to include presentations from external experts. The Science and Technology committee will also share progress updates from ongoing projects. The Board will receive an update from the Department on the implementation status of its recommendations.

Public Comments: Every public meeting offers the opportunity for anyone to submit written public comments to the DIB. Please submit any written comments by the end of day Friday, February 28th, 2020 within the RSVP form below.

Public Meetings

Agenda: During the last public meeting at Georgetown University, on October 31, 2019, the Workforce, Behavior, and Culture Subcommittee presented on workforce issues, to include a Workforce Now project and a Campaign for an AI-Ready Force. The Science and Technology Subcommittee presented on Fully-Networked Command, Control, and Communications, Zero Trust Architecture, the source code provision of the Software Acquisition and Practices report, AI Ethics Principles, and their work plan for the rest of the calendar year. The Board also discussed the implementation status of its recommendations in the Department. Members of the public had an opportunity to provide oral comments to the Board regarding its deliberations and potential recommendations. The Defense Innovation Board Holds Quarterly Public Meeting at Silicon Valley

The Defense Innovation Board -- an independent federal committee advising the defense secretary on various issues that focus on people and culture, technology and capabilities, and practices and operations -- holds a quarterly public meeting at Silicon Valley, Calif., July 10, 2019. The science and technology subcommittee will present its work on principles for the ethical use of artificial intelligence, the workforce behavior and culture subcommittee will discuss talent management, and the board will receive a progress update on implementation of the recommendations contained in its Software Acquisition and Practices study report. Additionally, Joshua Marcuse will brief the board on the Defense Department’s latest implementation activities related to its recommendations.
